Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and ShutdownBoard ("we", "us") governing your use of the ShutdownBoard platform, website, and mobile app (the "Platform"). By creating an account or using the Platform in any way, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use the Platform. By registering, you confirm that you are 18 years of age or older and legally able to work in the jurisdiction where you seek or offer employment.

Worker and employer accounts are separate. Each account belongs to a real person (worker) or a company represented by an authorized person (employer). You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account.

Job postings, employer profiles, and community groups are reviewed by our team before becoming publicly visible. We may reject, edit, or remove content that is inaccurate, misleading, unlawful, or that violates these Terms.

Reviews, messages, and community posts are the responsibility of the user who created them. Reviews can be reported by other users and reviewed by our team; we may hide or remove reviews that are abusive, defamatory, fraudulent, or otherwise inappropriate. Reported content is reviewed through our moderation queue.

Provide accurate information about your trade, experience, certifications, or company at all times.

Use the Platform lawfully and treat other users respectfully in messages, reviews, and community posts. Harassment, discrimination, threats, and hate speech are prohibited and may result in immediate account suspension.

Do not impersonate others, post content you don't have the rights to, scrape or resell Platform data, upload malicious files, or attempt to work around the Platform's role restrictions or security features.

Do not use the messaging, notification, or community features for spam, unsolicited advertising, or commercial messages unrelated to industrial work.

All communication between workers and employers happens through ShutdownBoard's in-app messaging. Job postings, applications, and profiles do not expose personal contact details, and you must not try to work around this by posting external contact information in job descriptions, reviews, or community posts. This keeps both sides protected: no one has to share a personal email or phone number until they choose to.

Employers may apply for verification. Verification indicates that we have reviewed the employer's identity and company details; it is not an endorsement or guarantee of the employer's business practices, financial condition, or worksite conditions. Verified employers' job postings may be published without further manual review, and we may revoke verification at any time.

ShutdownBoard is a listing and connection platform only. We are not a party to any agreement between workers and employers, do not employ or supervise workers, and do not guarantee employment, wages, working conditions, or that any posting will be filled or any applicant hired. All terms of any job — pay, schedule, travel, lodging, safety, and benefits — are agreed solely between you and the other party.

You keep ownership of content you upload (profiles, documents, reviews, posts) and grant other Platform users permission to view it as intended by the feature you use (e.g., your worker profile is shown to employers according to your visibility settings; applications and messages are visible to their recipients). The Platform's design, branding, and software belong to ShutdownBoard.

Documents you upload (resumes, tickets, certifications) are stored privately and are shared only in the ways the Platform describes — for example, a resume attached to a job application is visible to the employer you applied to.

Our Privacy Policy describes what information we collect and how we use it; it is part of these Terms. You can access, update, or delete your profile information at any time, download a copy of your data from Settings, and permanently delete your account and personal data using "Delete Account" in Settings.

Email notifications (job matches, new messages, announcements) are sent only for the notification types you have enabled. You can change your preferences in Settings or from your profile page, or use the unsubscribe link in any email we send.

The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that information posted by users (including job details, credentials, or reviews) is accurate or complete.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ShutdownBoard is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from your use of the Platform or from interactions, agreements, or disputes with other users, including without limitation any claims relating to wages, working conditions, injury, or damage to property.

You may close your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, that create risk or liability for us or other users, or as required by law — with or without notice. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 7–10) remain in effect after your account is closed.

We may update these Terms as the Platform evolves. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email, and the "Last updated" date above will change. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
